Looking back to the Indian history, more number of social activists belonged to the Konkan region. One of such was Chandubhai Mehta. He was born in Matvan near Dapoli on 16th August 1926. He was a integral part of several agitation against the British which meant for the freedom of our country.
He also contributed to the GOA liberation. He struggled for the welfare of his villagers. He made his own well available for use, to the underprivileged people of his village. He never discriminated people on the grounds of religion and caste.
As a tribute to his finest deeds his relatives and followers started a trust called “Sathi Chandubhai Mehta Samaj Seva Pratishtan” on December 1996. The main aim of this trust is to strive for the growth of the underprivileged students.
